By charlie worley
This blog is meant to highlight the importance of prayer in coaching pastors, church leaders, and leaders of Christian organizations. So let's take a look at a number of Bible texts that encourage us to be a people of prayer, especially prayer in coaching ministry leaders.

Today, May 7, is designated a National Day of Prayer in the USA. It is another reminder of the desperate need of prayer in our lives, in the church, for our government on all levels, and across the nation.

This blog is written to highlight the importance of prayer in coaching pastors, church leaders, and leaders of Christian organizations. So let's take a look at a number of Bible texts that encourage us to be a people of prayer, especially prayer in coaching ministry leaders.

Ps. 86:6 – "Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; listen to my plea for grace." Plead to God for grace and that He will hear the heart cry of those who coach and encourage pastors and ministry leaders.

1 Cor. 14:15 – "What am I to do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind also; I will sing praise with my spirit, but I will sing with my mind also." Use your spirit and mind to pray for those who coach and encourage ministry leaders. Be reminded that true prayer is worship, and as you worship, pray.

Eph. 1:16 – "I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers°" Pray for your pastors and ministry leaders, and by all means do not stop praying for those who coach, equip, and encourage them. Let your prayers become as natural as breathing, and pray until something happens.

Eph. 3:20-21 – "Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen." As you pray, expect God to answer your fervent prayers for those who labor at coaching and encouraging pastors and ministry leaders. Pray that in all things, the God of possibilities will be glorified.

Eph. 6:17b-18 – "°praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints°" Always keep alert to God's promptings in your prayers as you coach and for others who coach pastors and ministry leaders. Pray hard and deep.

Phil. 1:9 – "And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment." Pray that the love of God will overflow out of your heart and mouth as you coach and encourage others who serve the Lord.

Col. 1:3 – "We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you°" Pray, coach, and encourage with thanksgiving to God.

Col. 1:9 – "And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding°" Ask God to fill you and others who may coach and encourage pastors and leaders with the full knowledge of God's will.

Col. 4:2 – "Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving." Pray and don't stop praying until you see the answer from God. But do it with thanksgiving as if God has already answered in His way and time. This command is simplified in 1 Thes. 5:17.

2 Thes. 1:11 – "To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power°" Pray that ministry coaching will help those in leadership seek to do every good work by faith in God's power to accomplish His will.

Phlm 1:4 – "I thank my God always when I remember you in my prayers°" Remember to pray with thanksgiving for those who coach and equip pastors and ministry leaders.

Ja 5:16b – "The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working." God wants to demonstrate His power in your prayers for those you coach and equip. Make sure that power is available by living in the righteousness of Christ.

1 Pet. 4:7 – "The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers." Always allow the Spirit of God to control you as you pray for your coaching and for those whom you coach.

3 John 2 – "Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul." Pray for the health and success of those whom you coach.

Jude 20b – "But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit°" As you coach, listen to and the voice of the Holy Spirit and continue to grow in the image of Christ Jesus.

Prayer is essential for coaching.
