Interim Pastor

When You Need an Interim Pastor

"The greatest opportunity to take a church to a new level is during a pastoral transition. The pastoral transition is a tipping point that can move your church into greater health and effective ministry. A skilled interim pastor can bring strength and guidance to a church, especially one that is plateaued or declining." – Tom Harris, Executive Director, Interim Pastor Ministries

Are you a church leader in the Pacific Northwest area and are considering and praying about finding a qualified and trained Intentional Interim Pastor for your church during your time of pastoral transition? If so, Coach and Equip Ministries may be able to help you take your next step forward.

Lead Coach Charlie Worley works with an excellent resource ministry organization, Interim Pastor Ministries (IPM). He has been vetted and trained by IPM and is one of many well-qualified Interim Pastors available to churches in transition between pastors.

Coach Charlie has served as an IPM Interim Pastor in two churches, each one for approximately 13-15 months. These churches successfully completed a 5-stage process of transition that used coaching and equipping and also a multi-stage process of pastoral search. Before that, Charlie served as an intentional interim in four other churches under a personal coaching contract.

If Charlie is not available or does not fit what you need in a transitional pastor, we will be glad to serve as a referral agency for Interim Pastor Ministries. It is requested that churches who directly contact Interim Pastor Ministries for help mention that Charlie Worley recommended them to you. Since Charlie is also an employee of Interim Pastor Ministries, IPM must work with your church leadership to approve his placement as your Interim Pastor if you so choose to offer him a call to this specialized, short-term ministry.

An Intentional Interim Pastor is recommended for the following situations:

  • When a Pastor resigns or retires after serving in a church for over 5-7 years
  • If there has been a season of plateaued growth or decline in the life and ministry of a church
  • If conflict has become a persuasive problem in the congregation
  • When a current Pastor is not gifted to lead the church into a new vision and a decision to leave has been made
  • If the church has lost sight of its God-given mission, values and vision
  • When a Pastor has had to leave his ministry due to moral failure or changing doctrine
  • When a church is going through a merger or other major change
  • In short, when major change, transition or transformation is needed

If you have any questions about finding an intentional interim pastor, please feel free to contact Coach Charlie at Coach and Equip Ministries.
